How the west was visited by a few people from the midwest, vegetarian (day 1)

September 11th

The trip from Michigan to Kansas was long but kind of nice because our route took us thru a lot of the little unknown places no one ever sees anymore. We crossed the Mississippi for the first time. Someone turned their old tires into KEEP OUT signs by painting the words around the rim and hanging them up on posts around their property. It was an interesting example of recycling.

At a gas station deli shop, somewhere in Missouri.
Zac (to clerk): Could I get that without any meat on there?

Clerk: You don’t want any meat?

Zac: No, I don’t.

Clerk: Really?

Zac: Really.

Clerk: How come?

Zac: I just dont. I’m a vegetarian.

Clerk: A vegetarian?? What, like you don’t eat meat?

Zac: Sure.

Clerk: Wait so do you eat pasta?

Zac: Ah, yes I do…

Clerk: (laughing) Yeah, but you can have turkey on thanksgiving right?

Zac: actually no, not really…

Clerk: (still laughing) So what do you eat then??

Zac: What?

Clerk: (swats at fly with hand) cause I have turkey…
